Power Paper is leveraging its patch technology platform and proven success in the cosmetics market to develop a number of therapeutic patches. The ability of its patches to propel topical treatments beyond the skin’s surface makes them ideal as a topical delivery system for a wide range of products.
Onychomycosis nail treatment patch
Power Paper's lead product is an Onychomycosis nail treatment patch that delivers a proprietary formulation via electrically promoted delivery mechanisms such as iontophoresis into the nail and nail bed. This ensures a high local concentration of the drug, enabling a therapeutic effect that is significantly enhanced over passive topical applications. With Power Paper's nail patch, systemic concentrations of the formulation are extremely low, thereby eliminating toxicity, drug interactions, overdosing, or any systemic side effects common with existing oral medications.
Power Paper has developed several anti-fungal formulations for iontophoretic delivery to the nail, optimized for increased delivery according to the structure and properties of the nail. In vitro and clinical studies have demonstrated that Power Paper’s disposable, iontophoretic patch delivers the drug directly into the nail bed, resulting in significant improvements in nail appearance.
Power Paper is in the process of modifying and optimizing its active patch technology for use in treatment of difficult to treat psoriatic lesions. The company has developed an innovative screening model for psoriasis based on several years of company expertise and proprietary know how. Power Paper has further developed analytical methods for use with the specific psoriasis drugs and ingredients being screened.
Local Pain and
Local anti-inflammatory treatment using NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)
Power Paper has developed a delivery model for screening analgesics. Using a specifically designed screening assay, Power Paper has shown that using its' active patch technology, it can deliver significantly higher concentrations of lead analgesics more rapidly than passive treatment with the same drugs.
